FAQ

My licence has expired — can I still use the software?

Yes. The software keeps working exactly as it did, and nothing is disabled. No features switch off, nothing nags you, and no scan stops running. Media Audit Pro™ and the Asset Intelligence Engine™ are GPL software, and the copy you have is yours to keep.

What stops is the service. You will no longer receive updates through the Joomla Update System, and you will no longer be able to open support tickets. Renew whenever you like and both resume immediately.

How many sites can I install it on?

As many as you like. We do not limit installs, and we never have. The software is GPL, so you are free to install it on every site you run.

What your licence covers is support. A standard licence covers support for up to three sites. If you maintain more than that, Developer Support extends it to every site you manage, including your clients'.

Can I add Developer Support later?

Yes. It is a separate add-on and can be bought at any time while your Media Audit Pro licence is active. You do not need to start a new licence or re-purchase anything.

Do you check which sites my licence is installed on?

No. There is no site registration, no domain locking, and no activation check phoning home. Your Download ID identifies you for updates, and that is all it does.

We ask which site a support question is about because it makes the answer faster, not because we are counting.

Can I modify the source code?

Yes. Everything we sell is GPL, so you have the full source and are free to change it.

Two things worth knowing. Changes to our files are lost when you update. And if you are modifying code to make an analyzer for an extension we do not cover, the Analyzer Builder in Media Audit Pro may already do what you need without any code at all — and what you build there survives updates.

Is the free edition really free?

Yes, and it stays free. Media Audit Tool™ includes Trash with Safe Restore and traces images used by Joomla core — articles, categories and modules. It is not a trial and it does not expire.

Support is not included with the free edition, though the documentation is available to everyone.

What happens to my Download ID if I let a licence lapse?

Your Download ID stays valid and stays yours. What changes is what it can reach: once a licence lapses, it no longer unlocks new releases for that product. Renew and access returns to the same Download ID — there is nothing to reissue and nothing to reconfigure.

This page covers the Terms & Conditions and License Agreement governing use of software distributed by In Color® and its websites.

The Short Version

  • Install and use the software on as many websites as you like. There is no installation limit, ever.
  • You keep it forever. Nothing expires, deactivates, or phones home. If you stop paying, you may keep and use the software as-is.
  • The PHP source is GPL. You can read it, change it, and maintain it yourself if you ever want or need to.
  • What you pay for is the service: live updates, new releases, and support - for the number of sites your subscription covers.
  • Try the free edition on anything, for as long as you like, at no cost. Upgrade only if it earns it.
  • Your subscription is personal to you and can't be resold or transferred - but you are absolutely free to charge clients for your time installing, configuring, and running the software on their behalf.

The rest of this page is the detail behind those five points.

What You Can Do With the Software

You may install and use the software on as many Joomla websites as you wish - your own, your employer's, or your clients'. There is no site limit on installation and no activation key that stops working.

All PHP source code in Media Audit Tool™ and its associated Joomla extensions is licensed under the GNU General Public License, Version 3, which governs your rights to run, copy, modify, and redistribute that code. Nothing on this page limits those rights.

You may modify the source for your own use. Three practical notes: modifications are at your own risk, we may decline support for a modified installation, and modifying GPL code grants no rights over our non-code assets or trademarks (see Ownership and Legal Terms).

What Your Subscription Includes

Your subscription does not determine where you may install the software. It determines how many of your websites receive live updates, new releases, and technical support from In Color®.

Free Edition

The free edition of Media Audit Tool™ costs nothing, may be installed on as many websites as you wish, and receives live updates while that service is offered.

The free edition includes no technical support and no warranty of any kind. You are welcome to read any public documentation, knowledge base, or community forums we may host, but we are under no obligation to respond to individual requests, and no such resource is guaranteed to be available or maintained.

Live update access for the free edition is provided entirely at the discretion of In Color® and may be changed, limited, or withdrawn at any time without notice. Any version you have already downloaded remains yours to keep and use as-is regardless.

Standard Subscription

A standard subscription entitles you to live updates and technical support for up to three (3) production websites that you own or actively maintain for yourself or your clients.

Staging, development, testing, and local copies of a licensed production website do not count toward this limit. You may maintain as many non-production copies of a licensed site as your work requires.

Developer Upgrade

The optional Developer Upgrade extends live updates and technical support to an unlimited number of production websites that you own or actively maintain, across every In Color® product covered by your active subscriptions.

The Developer Upgrade also includes priority support: your support requests are placed ahead of standard-subscription requests in the queue. Priority support governs the order in which requests are answered and does not constitute a guaranteed response time or service level agreement.

The Developer Upgrade requires an active subscription and applies only while both it and the underlying product subscription remain active. If the Developer Upgrade lapses, your entitlement reverts to the standard three-website limit.

Larger Deployments

If your organization requires update and support coverage under different terms - for example, a government body, educational institution, or enterprise with distributed departmental websites - enterprise licensing is available. Please contact us to discuss arrangements.

What Happens When a Subscription Ends

You keep the software. Forever. Any version you have already downloaded remains yours to use, on as many websites as you wish, for as long as you like. Your subscription ending does not disable anything, does not expire your installation, and does not require you to remove the software from any site.

What ends is the service: access to future updates, new releases, technical support, and proprietary materials requires an active subscription. If you later renew, that access resumes.

What We Ask of You

Your license is personal to you. It may not be shared, sold, transferred, sublicensed, rented, leased, or redistributed to any other individual, organization, or business. Each individual developer, agency, or organization using the software must obtain its own license.

To be clear about what that does not restrict: if you build or maintain websites for clients, you may charge whatever you like for your time installing, configuring, running, and interpreting the results of our software on their behalf. That is your work and your fee. What you may not do is pass your license, subscription, or Download ID to the client or to anyone else - if they want their own updates and support, they need their own subscription.

Live updates are delivered using a Download ID issued to your account. Your Download ID is personal to you and must not be shared, published, resold, or used by any other individual or organization.

In Color® reserves the right to suspend or revoke a Download ID, and to decline further updates or support, where there is reasonable evidence that these terms have been breached - including sharing of a Download ID, or use of update services substantially beyond the entitlement purchased.

What We Are Not Responsible For

Third-party Analyzers remain the property of their respective copyright holders under their authors' own license terms. In Color® is not responsible for their licensing, functionality, maintenance, compatibility, or support.

Media Audit Tool™ is maintained for compatibility with currently supported Joomla releases. Because it inspects content managed by other extensions, In Color® cannot guarantee compatibility with every third-party extension, nor with future versions of extensions outside our control.

Ownership and Legal Terms

By purchasing, downloading, installing, or using any software distributed by In Color®, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by the terms on this page, which together form a binding agreement between you ("Licensee") and In Color®.

Non-Code Assets

Unless expressly stated otherwise, all images, graphics, icons, documentation, manuals, cascading style sheets (CSS), JavaScript files, installation media, branding, logos, and other non-PHP assets distributed with Media Audit Tool™ are the copyrighted property of In Color®. These materials may not be copied, redistributed, repackaged, sublicensed, published, or incorporated into other software without our prior written permission.

Trademarks

Media Audit Tool™, Asset Intelligence Engine™, Media Audit ToolProfessional, In Color®, and all associated product names, logos, branding, and marketing materials are trademarks or proprietary identifiers of In Color®. Nothing on this page grants permission to use these trademarks in any manner that implies endorsement, affiliation, authorship, or sponsorship without our prior written permission.

Warranty Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability

Media Audit Tool™ is provided "AS IS", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including, but not limited to, the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. In no event shall In Color® be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, exemplary, or special damages arising out of or relating to the use of this software, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. This disclaimer extends the GPL's own disclaimer of warranty to the proprietary components covered by this Agreement.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, and regardless of the form of any claim, the total aggregate liability of In Color® arising out of or relating to this Agreement or the software shall not exceed the amount the Licensee paid to In Color® for the software during the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

Continuity, Discontinuation, and Transfer

In Color® may modify, suspend, or discontinue any product, edition, or service at any time, and may assign this Agreement together with its rights and obligations to a successor in connection with a sale, merger, acquisition, or transfer of the business or its assets.

No update service, support service, or subscription is warranted to continue indefinitely, and In Color® is not liable for any delay or failure to provide updates or support arising from causes beyond its reasonable control.

Should In Color® discontinue a product or cease operating for any reason, you are not left stranded. The PHP source code is licensed under the GPL, which permanently guarantees your right to keep using it, to modify and maintain it yourself, and to engage any developer you choose to do so on your behalf - independently of In Color® and without needing our permission or continued existence.

Changes to These Terms

In Color® may revise these terms at any time, without notice. Revisions take effect when posted on this page. Your continued use of our software or this website after that point constitutes acceptance of the revised terms, so you may wish to check this page from time to time.

Changes are not retroactive: the terms in effect at the time of your purchase govern that purchase for its subscription period.
